Ask wife's opinion , treat each other with respect, talk things out and realize that just because there is a different way to do something from the way you do it doesn't make it wrong. Basically respect and communication.

We haven't been married for 40 years, its actually been 54 going on 55. We enjoy a lot of laughter, respecting the other's opinions, being selfless and working together to solve problems.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

I don't really know if there's one specific thing. I know couples that each do there own thing and completely happy and other ones that do everything together and are happy.think maybe the biggest thing is talk to each other about what each one wants for goals in life before they get married .if the goals are similar that should help what you are striving for and make a marriage last providing one or the other doesn't change down the road.will have 47 in this spring.

Respect her, and if it’s important to her, it’s important to you! Don’t blow it off!

The secret is marrying the right one to start with. But I may not be qualified to answer we've only been married 29 1/2 years, practically newlyweds.

Mr Dobbins pretty much summed it up for me. I would add don't take anything too serious that doesnt need to be. Lots of laughs and be nice. 30 years here.

Ditto , my wife up and died on me at 25 not by choice she would have stayed forever just couldn't cancer but everything Paul said holds true.

I will add one thing , there is research that being friends first leads to a long marriage , I agree with that.

you are both going to grow as people and change some , you need to do that with respect and figure it out together , never forget you're the team. not opponents.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

We will celebrate our 35th soon. Have common goals. Ask each other what they want in life. Love unconditional and respect is very important.

The mother of my children has given me the greatest honor and I treat her as such. Don’t sweat the little stuff.

Absolutely. From 2zwudz's previous posts on this topic, I think he is a conservative married to a raging liberal. I'd rather be dead than married to a liberal, so my advice to him is to do the divorce.

Disclaimer: Also not qualified to respond, only been married 18 years.
