if you catch a coyote, will others make a ruckus about it? I was just in bed and heard a big ol' commotion outside, real close to the house; all kinds of coyote yelps and barks. I had some traps set with Caven's predator bait and I was wondering if I caught one, will the others will yell about it?

thanks

Not really. I trap a few spots that a caught coyote and it's buddies can be heard and only once has the landowner said anything about a racket the night a coyote was caught and it was just from the caught one.

Maybe if you catch the old female. I haven't seen it with coyotes, but twice with wolves I've caught the alpha female and had the others howling all around while I dispatched and remade the set. I was also Guiding elk hunters a few years ago and could hear wolves howling all morning on the hill across the canyon. Turned out a trapper had a wolf in a trap over there that morning and the others were around howling. If that happens remake the set and slap in a couple blind sets quick if you have the traps, and get out of there. The others will be back looking for her.

On a rare occasion coyotes will kill a coyote in a trap. I've never been around when that happened, but I suspect there is a ruckus that you would hear if you were in hearing.

That's really cool! I was actually worried last night, wondering if it could have been the coyotes either killing a coyote in my trap, or killing something else in my trap. Thanks for the info!

20-30% of the coyotes I catch have multiple fresh bite marks in them when I skin them. Especially if it’s a young female.

Everything the left touches it destroys

Just got back from running the "line". Didn't catch anything but it was still a really eventful morning, I'll tell y'all about it in a few minutes

So I went out, checked my traps, and not disturbance except for this:

For whatever reason, something plugged my dirthole with moss and dirt. crazy

Anyway, I was tromping along and saw a couple of rabbits in the neighbor's cornfield. They were about 40 yards from me, so I blasted one with my 20 gauge. He kicked and then took off into the brush. I went after him, and the other rabbit that I hadn't shot at ran out, so I shot him too. Then I found the first rabbit, who was right underneath me in the brush. It took off, made a loop, and then came right back to me so I shot him with my .22 pistol. Then, when I was taking this picture:

A couple of pheasants flew in 25 yards from me and landed there. I had ran out of #6s (I only brought 2 and I used those on the rabbits) so all I had left was #2 steel shot (which I had brought in case I saw a goose). I wasn't sure if a .22 was legal to shoot pheasants with, so I ran inside and grabbed another #6 pheasant load. I managed to get a shot off at one but missed. So that was my morning grin
