I was grinding boned out bobcat meat the other day for coyote bait. Using some fresh and some slightly tainted. While I was grinding it I thought it was awfully good looking meat and wondered if I couldn’t use excess ground meat from cats and beaver for my dog. Well cooked of course to kill any parasites. She’s always had an allergy to chicken so finding a non chicken based food is both difficult and expensive. And she’s kind of finicky on some of the non chicken options. On a good year I’ll have way more cat and beaver meat than I need for bait.

Shoot yeah, give it a try. My old Heeler got to the point he wouldn't eat dog food no matter how you doctored it up, but he lived on pulled crock pot squirrel the last 18 months of his life.

I pressure can 60-70 quarts a year. Usually can with rice, barley and sometimes oatmeal. Good use for stale dry goods. Mixed some sweet corn in this year as they love it so much. Venison scraps work well, if the jar has some fat on top even better. We have a dog and a fox, they know what a quart jar is for sure. mikec

I have never cooked any wild game specifically for my dogs before giving it to them. They eat it raw and have never had an issue.

beaver carcass is real good dog feed. my hounds ate it a lot. i never cooked it and they never got sick or wormy.

There is a market for Beaver meat in MN, it's used as dog food, primarily fed raw.

I feed my dogs, the meat, hearts, feet, tails and heads, all raw from beaver.
