In over 200 whitetail deer (buck and doe), I have never taken a drop tine deer. Never seen one in the wild. I have taken one non typical. It had 16 points and looked like a bush that had been pruned.

I've never killed a non typical so that would be my first choice.

non-typical every time, unless its a grotesque pen raised/high fence deer, those are just plain ugly!

I would shoot the non typical, everything else being equal. It's rack would be more interesting to look at.

If the typical makes The Book, I'm taking that one. I fell a few points short on a real nice typical because of a broken brow tine.
I killed a real nice non-typical so I'm good there,

I'll take a big mass typical all day. The James Jordan buck has always been a favorite.

For most of the people I have asked all say non typical. I find that very interesting but the straight forward run of the mill 140 to 150 is more available then a unique non typical.
I have poor pictures of both animals from months ago. We can't use cameras while hunting season is going so nothing current but both animals are pretty special trophies.

I'd take a really big typical over a big nontypical for me. But id kill which ever gave me the first opportunity if they are both big.

I would let 140 to 150 typical muleys grow some

As an unabashed meat hunter, I'd take the first one that offered me the best shot. That said, if they were standing nose to nose, broadside, I'd take the typical. I like their racks better. Unless the non-typical had a bigger body. I AM trying to fill the freezer after all.

I'd also be trying to figure out how the 2nd one got out there before I took the shot at the first one.

I was mentoring my cousins son a few years back , I am trying to get him to shoot a doe , and more and more deer keep coming out , it was at that moment I realized they had probably always been coming up behind but I always shot the first deer that looked good for meat.

how many other deer had I never seen that were 100 yards behind the first that walked in

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
