Could someone who has some guts and recognizes this opportunity please get with Mark Goring and help him bring beaver trapping to his youtube channel? He is a Catholic priest in Canada.

I know he walks on a frozen beaver pond in winter and has even fallen through... and I know he has bushcraft interests.... but he needs a little push.

Imagine him making a beaver dish, while talking to the world! This is one of those "disruptive" things that you could do to change the world for the better. Maybe even get him to tan some fur. Hearts and minds.

For non-Catholics: Don't be afraid to approach him, he's Christian just like you.

And as a catholic you can eat beaver on good friday can't ya?

Weirdly enough, yeah we can

One of the reasons it was trapped to extinction in Europe, they say.

The story I heard goes, Trappers were in heavy competition for beaver. The catholic trappers would have to waste time hunting for other food to eat on Friday. Trappers wrote the pope for dispensation to allow them to eat beaver meat on Friday. They described beaver as having a scaly tail and webbed feet that resembled fins. They got the dispensation based on the description. Close enough to a fish I guess. More likely a follow the money deal. Beaver were gold.

I know turtle qualified for Fridays as well. We ate turtle soup and a restaurant in the area used to serve it on Fridays primarily for the Catholics.
