Want to use 1X8 for 160’s. Target is fisher, occasionally bobcat and raccoons. In NY we are limited to a 6” opening recessed 8”. Any advantage to wooden bottom or just two sides and top?
Thanks

I have used them for coons a great deal with solid bottoms, the biggest thing I have found for better catches was a hardware cloth back (I use scrap 1/4") and use a pan instead of the triggers on them

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure

I'd definitely put a bottom on them so you can put the boxes on leaning poles if needed. Check the archives - should be lots of info on coni boxes

I would use a bottom as the coon can’t get around the trap and get to the bait.
