They have been wide open past couple weeks here. The main phase will be mostly over in another week. Our peak date here is October 25th.

90% of these does will be bred by Nov 5th. A small percentage were bred in late September. A small percentage will have no measurable-sized fetuses in mid-December.

There will be a minimal amount of rut activity in about 3 weeks from now (3rd week of November.)

Myself (back when I was a game warden), the county University of Georgia extension agent, local timber company lease manager, and a state wildlife biologist pulled the reproductive tracts from 70 does over a 3-year span, measured the fetuses, and backdated to learn the conception dates to acquire this info.

BTW...those bucks in the pics are a 1.5 yr old and two 2.5 yr olds. They're not allowed to "play" with the girls much. The 3.5+ yr old bucks rule the playground
