My best friend overseas is married to a Filipino (sp?) woman for 50ish years, two great kids. They lived there and in Japan and here now for 40 of those years. I have met many while I was in SE Asia and have no complaints. Some people are great and others are not, no matter where you are???......jk

My first wife was from Mexico City. Long story, but she came to visit her uncle who lived nearby and I ended up giving her rides to english classes in town, eventually marrying her (and providing her citizenship). Could never wash the "city" out of her though and we were not a good fit, me being a country boy who hates cities, her a city girl who didn't like the country. We had one kid who is now 30.

Just as things were about kaput in our marriage and a divorce was in the works I was introduced to a Colombian gal who was living in North Carolina. We corresponded for awhile and then decided to meet in a neutral site: Costa Rica. We hit it off and were married about a year later. She was also a city gal but took to country living and has been a good farm-wife and partner. We have been together/married for 25 years now. It helped that I spoke (speak) fluent Spanish and had some cultural savvy under my belt about Latinas (having lived in Ecuador and Costa Rica for a total of three years). Still, you almost never fully become "culturally literate" to a culture you were not born into.

I have had to bend a little on some things to get along, but it's all good. Some of the cultural differences actually put a smile on my face....like the time her very cute 19 year old niece came to visit. When we got her back home from the airport my wife proudly claimed "look what a hot body my niece has, look at her cute derriere"! To which I expected the niece to be at the very least... extremely upset! Nope, she twirled around showing off her tight blue jeans and laughing! I was kind of shocked. LOL

All in all, I would be very cautious entering into a union like this. You've got a lot working against it, and if you don't have the ability to be flexible on some things it almost certainly will end poorly.

Your thoughts? Experiences?

There will be a lot of single Russian and Ukrainian ladies available. with so many of the men on both sides being killed.

After 29 years with mine if something happens to her I dont think I would even bother With a new one. None could hold a candel to her and would just end up a disappointment. I would be completely lost without her hopefully I die first and won't have to experience life without her.

Being that Chuck and I have been trapping buddies for close to 50 years I'll admit to having taken him down south and putting him in harms way.

Clearly, some lack the charisma and charm to court inside their own ethnicity.

That's a funny comparison, D. Lol

You charmed your girl. She didn't swoon to attain citizenship.

Sometimes it is pretty darn hard to find a gal worthy of a second look within your own ethnicity! And my wife had zero desire to travel to the USA, leave her extended family, or gain citizenship. But I managed to convince her to put that aside and move to Alaska of all places!

from the very few instances that I have seen, it appears to me that those guys can't find American women that will put up with their attitudes/personality. nothing racial about it.

Forty years ago I met a cute French Basque gal who walked into my store looking for a used shotgun for duck hunting. She came to the states at 18 with $200 and some school taught English to be a nanny in New Jersey, like a lot of young French girls did back in the day.
We started a business and bought our first house before we were married.

No regrets.... in fact we worked side by side for many years and she's a big part of why I'm not a 66 year old drunk fishing guide in western Montana living in a double wide down by the river.

Beaverpeeler and Newhouse... I always enjoyed my fishing trips in Central and South America, and met some great folks along the way.

Bad women exist everywhere and the good ones too. Marriage seems to be the primary way for most folks to find out which is which.

Pete

Actually wife was talking me about how she was chatting with some British women around our age over on a Discord group . Apparently marriage got brought up and a lot of em where upset because most of the guys in there age group are trying the whole pass port bro thing ( when you go to another country and bring a woman back basically because she can get citizen ship ) or dating immigrant women folk if they could. According to them it's because they don't because they usually are happy to cook , clean , be more submissive..... You know the traditional type of wife vibe . Well wifey asked em if they know the issue and are so upset about it.... Why don't they ... You know ......start being more traditional .... Well apparently that WASN'T the right question to ask
