Did you know that weasels go into bear dens in the winter and kill new bear cubs while the mother is hibernating?

I could see a weasel eating a small bear cub

Best one I know, and hear regularly is "if you kill coyotes you end up with even more coyotes because they respond by having bigger litters".

What a crock!

Wisconsin DNR telling me personal seining of shiners in the Lower Wisconsin River, used in the same area without removal from the water to transport, and then releasing unused shiners into the same spot they were seined will spread VHS. That's right, exactly what I was told.

Wolves:
only kill what they need to survive.
only kill the weak and starving.
only the alpha male and female breed and have pups.
have distinct territories and never cross those lines.
once you catch a wolf in a set, you will never get another wolf to go to that set again.
don't eat fish.
and many more fantasies.

Just doing what I want now.

If you pick a skunk up by the tail it won't spray, put that to the test when I was 12 and figured I needed a pet skunk. It's not true, little bugger sprayed me till he was dry

Yes, I’ve heard that also. What I do know, every female coyote killed will never have anymore litters. LOL

Michigan DNR planted coyotes to curb the deer population. Can't tell you how many times I've heard that bunk.

Oh I don’t know.

The coyote callers “number” has to be right up there.

I’m amazed at how many triple digit a year shooters there are out there! wink

And State Farm Insurance released ear tagged coyotes to control the deer population to cut down on deer/car collisions smile

Female possums have two hoohoos to correspond with the male's arrangement.
(I am pretty sure we can say hoohoo in here. I recon Savell will chime in directly.)

Don’t run over rattlesnakes they will bite your tire and their fangs will break off and give you a flat tire.
Then when the tire repair guy wipes the inside of the tire before patching it the fangs will stick his fingers and he will have to go to the hospital for an anti-venom shot.

Don, Don't forget they put little parachutes on those rattlesnakes so they didn't get hurt falling from the helicopters.

I'm pretty sure the "PGC stocked coyotes to control deer populations under pressure from insurance companies" rumor started up here in Elk, Cameron, Potter counties. We had a WCO that was known as a prankster. He would etch/punch random numbers on metal tag and attach them to dog collars. He would then go and trap coyotes. Put the collars on them and release them in different areas up here. His one DWCO told me on some of them he would also put the letter ASI (AllState) EIC (Erie Insurance Co.) Etc etc etc.

Had a lady going on and on about it during the public meetings about the elk hunt.

When pressed with questions all she had to go by was that her and the hubby were out spotting one night and came across a PGC truck and a guy releasing a coyote from a cage. Asked her to describe the guy. She described the WCO to the T.

The funniest one is when I was working with another Bio-aide in south western PA. We got told to go get a mountain lion from some sort of zoo. Only thing we had to put it in was a culvert bear trap. We were at a stop light in Uniontown and a guy asked what we had in the trap. The other aide said Mountain Lion. Light turned green and we took off. Never got to explain that it came from a zoo. When we got it to the PGC vet in state college the one vet tech who didn't know what we had in the trap said he would go in and release it. We told him it had to be released a certain way from the trap. He didn't quite understand what was going on and kept saying "I've gotten a lot of bears out of these things before by doing it this way. Finally the vet came out and told him to get the heck out of the area. When we opened that door and that ML come bounding out he turned a shade of white I've never seen on a human before.

We have those giant cats here too! I've heard the dam repair version, and like rvsask the bridge repair version.
Also, the IDNR has been releasing mountain lions to reduce the deer herd.

Of course I have heard many versions of this story. Even been ask many times about it and can not verify.

Im pretty sure though that my dog always faces north when she poops.

Three of my favorites are for deer.

The October lull

The moon phase effects deer movement

And my absolute favorite….. deer go nocturnal.

Like many other states, we have the folks who say they know a guy who knew the guy who’s brother released coyotes.

I will add that a trapped wolf will never bite the person releasing it.

Thank you all for contributing. I'm bringing it back up in hopes that you all will keep adding to it. I bet Savell or some of you other southern folks can add to it.
