My middle girl and her husband packed three of my grandyounguns and moved off to South Carolina a month or so ago to his family. They have a whole pack of cousins there. His sister's youngest girl is the same age as my grands. Well we just got in from visiting up there and dang if they ain't more like sisters than cousins. The little girl even run up and gave me a hug and said bye grand dad when we left, lol.

I still hate it that they moved but I feel better knowing they got plenty of family around.

You must be rather loveable!

Has to be tough breaking up a family. To each their own when it comes time to move on and start a life elsewhere. I hope you get to see them all on a regular basis

Just got a soft spot for younguns. I understand what you gals mean saying you want another one when someone comes in with a new baby. The missus done told me no and my oldest two say that they're done and the youngest at 17 better not be getting no foolish ideas yet.

Maybe it's cause I raised girls but ain't nothing like a youngun's hug to make you feel good all over.

Little ones ARE wonderful. I sometimes carry a lot of pain because I never had any of my own.
And YES it’s too late now

I have two granddaughters. One is 33 months and they came and spent a half day here today. There is something special about girls in raising them. I can't explain it but just different then raising a boy. I'm so happy to be around those two young ones.

Good for you Warrior!!!

Kids are still young the oldest is 13, wife works at a school, between the kids usual friends that hang out, and church youth group that we lead... me and the wife have extra kids, nieces, and nephews. You can never have to many kiddos running around. My wife comes from a difficult background so she relates alot to troubled kids and they attach to her like glue. I honestly only wanted one child, because earlier days im not a big fan of kids, but the wife's love of children has rubbed off on me and warmed up my cold black heart lol. Im sure when the kids get old enough and move out, I wouldn't be surprised if Alicia doesnt talk me into adopting or fostering, if we ever become empty nesters ill be real surprised.

isn't nothing in SC more than a days drive from GA , you should probably tell them to keep your room ready or do a little travel trailer parked behind their garage.

make yourself common over there and you might pick up a few more grandkids

Yeah, I see alot of highway miles in my future. Problems are that I'm looking for my own exit from Atlanta about the same distance in the opposite direction and I'm pretty much a barn sour horse these days. The missus on the other had was raised pillar to post one step ahead of the rent man across multiple states so she can't sit still for more than a few days at a time.

you hit a new term for me , "was raised pillar to post one step ahead of the rent man across multiple states so she can't sit still for more than a few days at a time"

am I getting this right , her folks moved house to house or apartment to apartment , any time they was going to be behind on the rent?

some people might call it a Gypsy soul

am I reading that right?

Pillar to post is the southernism. Basically bouncing around and never in one place twice. Usually not in a good way.

Her dad wasn't much of a stable provider in spite of being a pretty decent mechanic. His wheeling and dealing and wandering eye had them, my wife and her brother and MIL, bouncing state to state kinfolk to kinfolk. She went to eight different elementary schools.

He finally settled in Iowa and my wife and MIL with me. It was a package deal unfortunately, lol.

Before he passed it meant an annual trip to Iowa. Her brother is in Kentucky and that was on the route but SIL has pretty much taken in the welcome mat to all comers.

Contrast that to my bunch where I can show you five generations laid out side by side in the same cemetery. At 20 years in Atlanta I'm the longest one to ever live outside of Alabama on dad's side.

My final resting place will put me and the missus in the same cemetery.

That makes sense then.

most of my family is in one of 2 cemeteries since 1880 don't know much about the ones before then 1860 is when most of the family started getting here from Northern Europe .

one branch of the family had been in the US since colonial times and he served George Washington as a clerk during the revolutionary war , that side of the family moved west from Virginia to Missouri between 1804 and about 1904 with a stop in Tenn for a generation or so. then my great grandmother found her way from MO to WI as a cook working for a wealthy family during the great depression and the rest is all WI.
