Nice. I'd ask what for, but that's a dumb question.

Here in Arkansas they started a alternative gun hunt that runs with muzzleloader season so I retired my muzzleloader and got this

That is a hammer of a gun in that caliber. It will rock you a little.

the answer for 45-70 is anything you darn well please within range.

I bit the bullet and went 45-70 this year myself , I did the trapper length.

I was getting more at a guy (or gal) doesn't really need a reason for a new gun. But, I'm always curious if there is a specific reason.

What are you going to hunt with it for? A beautiful gun I'm jealous.

my first round of 45-70 I leaned into it thinking 325gr at 2000fps (Leverevolution) was going to be some kind of recoil.

and after that round I was like this milder than the 12ga with slugs I have been running. it's not no recoil but it's not bad.

agreed a person who has the cash needn't a reason to spend it on a new gun ,but most of us have some desire for what a new gun offers and that is interesting to know.

for me it was a handy length gun with all the authority to take bear or whatever needed shooting where ever I roam. that also could be run suppressed with heavies , just for fun .

I used to range master at a public range, guy came in with a 45/70 shot over a box of shells. I had been spotting for another guy, Looked over at his target all over the place. I made my way over and he said it just isn't accurate. I asked if I could shoot it a couple times, sure. I put three holes in about an inch at 100 yards, iron sights. Nope gun shoots fine, might try again in a few days. He was just scared of the recoil and jerking the trigger. I have been lucky, recoil does not affect me all that much, just settle in tight. I would love to have a gun like that some day, maybe next year.
