If someone wants to take time out of their busy lives to help animals, be it cats, dogs, or wildlife, they shouldn't be required to ask the state's permission to do so.

And why I take flack here if I would post about bottle feeding squirrels that were nested in a tree I took down, or raising coon that mom was dead on the road, or rehabilitation any # of animals over the last several decades.

First thing do you have a permit. Are you in the special cool kids club. I understand most people are. ignorant and have the Bambi idea of animals and reasion behind the permit crap. But laws won't stop it and you can't protect people from their own stupidity.

So we just live by our own code and do what we believe is right.

If it was just baby squirrels....then you'd have a good argument.

But news flash they still are and are still out there they just dont bother with permits.

Having a permit system dose not make the bad go away it just adds to more barriers and hassle for the good ones.
Same as anything else need a permit to carry your gun for example. Criminals dont bother with it. But the law abiding will. Then there are some that think compliance makes them cool. Take all the people posting pictures with their covid vax cards as an example. Its cool to be part of the in crowd.

Permits, fees, laws ect won't stop bad behavior.

Im more of a small government individual. Government always grows and creeps. Regardless of how good the intentions were to start. Take a lot of our epa rules that ran the manufacturing out of our country.

Mama always said that "locks are for honest people". Same applies to permits.

You just won't quit.

After you PM'd me I thought maybe I understood your original comment.

"Badge of honor to get inspected" ????

"Believed she was helping the animal kingdom"???

Im done with this nonsense. My intentions wasn't for this to turn into a discussion about government over-reach, permits, and "woe is me" folks that think everyone should have a free for all.

I ask that if yall are believers to please pray for that lady's family. She was just doing her job.

Brush it off Swamp, they like the attention. Some folks just enjoy being the south end of a north bound donkey.

Prayers for all involved. Such a tragedy.

Sad deal. That lady was someone's daughter and may have been a mom or sibling, and was doing something harmless that she felt was necessary in her life. Framing this discussion any other way than sympathetic for all involved is rather heartless IMO.

I had a similar thing happen- I was at the local Trader Horn 20 some years ago and spotted an ad on the bulletin board with traps for sale. Called the guy and scheduled a time. He was a small statured guy, humble, unassuming, we talked for hours. Flash forward to next week, Im reading the newspaper and for some reason noticed his name in the obits. He died later that night that I was there, I didnt think there was anything wrong with him, he seemed fine. Come to find out he was a highly decorated Special Forces Soldier that taught ROTC. I thought maybe I was possibly the last one to talk to him besides maybe a family member.

Swamp is just taking the coments about society and government personally. As if its a slight to him or rather his wife directly. In no way has anything o have seen posted been ment that way.

I believe anti response about bage of honor was to me and my comments about how having a permit or licensed rehab place make some people feel like thaynare prt of something or the in crowd. We have all seen it just in different situations.

Again has nothing to do with or directed as a negative tword you or your wife in the slightest. Infact I think its great the time and resources you bot put into her passion of taking care of dogs that need a beter situation.

Taking everything as a personal shot at your wife is quite a stretch. By now you should know anything you post will get what others think about the topic. Don't take things not ment personal personally and even if something is ment personally( loard knows I have taken a lot of personal shots from people on here) that its just people on the internet few if any you know and what the smart mouths say have no effect on you and they are not likely someone you woulf respect enough to care what they think anyway.

Im guessing you have a nice kennel set up built since she semem to be really driven and passionate about her rescue. I would be interested in how it works and you planed it and things you would change to make it mor efficient if you could do it over again.
I really enjoy dogs as dose my daughter and have thought about putting in a kennel for short term boarding, training at some point in the 20 year plan. Small things like slope in floor for cleaning or having feed or doors located here is mor efficient make a big difference in saving time over the years. So im interested in looking at many set ups.
