Any of you folks ever used them? Growing up and reading the old trapping books, it was a common recommendation, and I did ok with them. My wife rendered some pork lard this evening, so I think I'm going to bait a couple dirtholes with them tomorrow.

I'd end up eating the entire bag of bait with hot sauce.

Aaron, my boys and I have eaten plenty tonight. We can spare a couple for the coyotes. I'm going to have to try the hot sauce though.

I have had to power through some bubble guts. Worth it, though.

Swamp beat me to it. Well the ants usually beat the fox to them as well, lol.

I like them as a bait, and to eat, but I've had more than a few dirt holes turned into ant mounds with them. Better as a wintertime bait than summer for that reason.

Figure bacon grease would make a good bait/lure but I ain't wasting good bacon grease.

canines will dig forever to get at it

I find the colder it is the more fat/calories critters crave in order to survive. Fats / Cracklings / Pork Rinds are full of calories. How many dead deer you seen yotes on in July? How many you see consume one in Jan?

I buried a 3 gallon bucket of um cut up weeds once, the lid was a foot+ deep, two weeks later something had dug down to the dead center of the lid. I thought that was interesting.

On this subject. When I was a kid I tried everything in my mom's kitchen as bait. I found out that Limburger cheese worked well, but i got my rear kicked for that as that was my Dad's favorite.....jk
