I don't get too excited about the movie.... I mean it's an old movie.......OK !!!! I LIED..... SIMPLY THE BEST MOVIE EVER !!!!! I remember going to the movie theater with a gal ( we were 10th or 11th graders) I kinda wanted to get some thing going with her. But she didn't like the movie..... I didn't trade her for a Hawkens gun but I dumped her just the same!!! Of course I am kinda partial to the movie after watching it two................................. maybe three.................... thousand times !!!!! smile smile smile [Linked Image]

One of my Boykin spaniel's registered names was "Hatchet Jack's Hawken Rifle", call name Hatchet.

I always get a kick on how hard the recoil is from that first shot Johnson takes with that Hawken.

First saw that movie at the thee ater when me and my best friend were 12 years old. It was a double feature with Dumbo the Elephant coming on first.
By the end of Jeremiah Johnson, we were hooked for life. I've been a trapper ever since then going on 50 years now.
I still get excited about what I have caught prior to each trap check.
If I can't sleep at night all I have to do is visualize and count each trap set in the order of how I set them. It might be 45 or 50 sets. If I am still awake before I get to the last set, I'll start over by visualize them in reverse order. That's harder and shuts my lights out much sooner.
