I probably have probably set more 330's in my trapping career than most on here, and for the life of me I don't see where I would ever want to fool with something like that. A firm grip of the trap jaws with your hand is plenty good enough.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Now thats an idea! Ever try not removing it and just sliding it around to the spring? I guess that would only work if you left it on the one and not both. You probably remove it. Still handy! Could probably just weld it to the chain couldn't you? Good idea!!! I just make my own safety rings. They work good for me. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/10/full-23688-273007-img_1187.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/10/full-23688-273008-img_1188.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/10/full-23688-273009-img_1186.jpg)

I really like this style of safety, but the green nylon rope it comes with is less than ideal. Had the idea today to use a Hagz bodygrip clip to make a convenient place to add a clip. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/10/full-13020-273005-20251028_192637.jpg) whara wrong with the green rope other than it's short? I've had mine for 10+ years and no issuesThe self loop on the end came open the first season I used it, and I hate tying knots n just about any nylon rope.

A firm grip of the trap jaws with your hand is plenty good enough.I thought I had a firm grip on a belisle 280 once, and ended up wearing it on a thumb. I'll take a few extra seconds and "fool" with the safety.

Then you must be alot better at it then us and not need it then. Not all of us are like that. That’s a good idea. I do something similar on my setter. Keeps it handy. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/10/full-10490-273006-img_7395.jpeg)I never thought about using one of those carabiner things,,, is that plastic trustworthy?? I’ve never seen any metal ones I guess

That yellow safety is the only one out there with enough gap to put on a Belisle 330 set on the first notch. Has saved my arse more than once. I also hate dealing with that green rope that constantly comes untied
Gotta live up to the nickname...

I also hate dealing with that green rope that constantly comes untiedI'll be tying paracord to the quick clip on the safety, and the other end will also have a quick clip that gets clipped to a belt loop. That way I can't forget my safety (or it just pulls the trap or my belt when I walk away).

I’ve never seen any metal ones I guess The one in that pic is aluminum its light for its size and works good. I have used the ones in Ksnows pic too and they work as well. I hang it on the outside of my bucket or from belt loop so I "Don't get caught without it" lol.

I still use the one you can get through most trapline sites with the spring. Not often, but I've had couple go off when I've set the dog on the bottom where there was a stick or something I didn't see.
I've been mentoring a 14 year old fellow the past two years who is new to trapping. I had a couple extra safeties and gave one to him. I told him it should be the last thing he takes off the trap once he has the set made. He gets all my Trappers Post when I'm finished with them.

If removing guns saves just one life it's worth it. Then if deporting illegals saves one life is that worth it?

How about just a heavy duty carabiner. Easy on and offNever thought of that, should work.
