I find that miniature marshmallows with a little fish oil on the lip work great in cold conditions especially when they are pre frozen

I will have to try them. The bait I am using gets soggy. Would think I am still ok?

I put a plastic cup over my dps and a squirt of fish oil on top. Bait stays dry until coon starts working set

clear plastic cups are your friend , I would have said 1 liter Gatorade bottles with the bottom half inch cut off if you asked a year or two ago , problem is I don't drink it any more my supply ran out and I can't find anyone else around me drinking it either

I bought a pack of the heaviest clear 16oz party cups at the grocery store they cost 4 and change for a stack of them

now you can walk your line sometimes even drive it and see if you still have bait and that it is staying dry.

I guess you could use red solo cups same thing but then you stick out a little more can be good or bad , but also you have to remove it to check bait is there and dry.

that was what I liked about the gatorade bottles , I think they had a little less blow off as well , but these worked decent

coons don't have any problem removing them , mice still get under them some

load my kibble & corn mix in a gallon jug with a wider mouth like an Arizona tee jug , add a couple ounces of fish oil to the gallon jug and a drizzle of smoke oil , shake it all up it coats all the kibble.

then just pour in the trap no mess on your hands.

about 50/50 corn and kibble the corn is there as a cheap filler and doesn't seem to slow them down at all and is also eaten. it tastes like fish oil and smoke so I guess they like it.

I use a dry Salom flavored cat food. Then I mix it with some mineral oil to keep it from getting washed out with any rain fall. I have another dry cat food that I mixed with pepermint oil. And another I mixed with anis oil. Will see what works the best. By adding these oils, it kind of makes the bait a bit rain proof. I don't put anything over my DPs.
By sometime late Thursday we will have out 76 DPs. I've been scouting for 2 days and flagging sets. We have some huge parcels of land too trap, and they are covered up with dry ditches. Time will tell.

I had some raw bread dough, and I decided to make some cinnamon rolls. They didn't turn out to well so I will use them for DP bait. I was also told that bananas make great skunk bait.

I would imagine if the bait is soggy they will still for it being it is still to warm to freeze. Unless the flavor has washed out.?.?

As soon as it's done raining I just dump the wet stuff out and put fresh in. If I know a rain is coming before hand I'll cover them with a plastic cup sometimes.

when kibble gets wet it expands and makes a clumped mess , the oil helps that some but a all day soaker or big storm at night it is not enough, and this last batch I ran out of fish oil from the trap supply and I needed more bait right away so I just used , used peanut oil from frying fish and it worked fine , toss in a dab of liquid smoke and still caught.

was trapping around poultry pens , all done Monday the last of them go to be thanksgiving for a lot of families.

I cover my DP's with a red solo cup. It serves two purposes. One, it keeps rain off my bait. Two, I can tell at a distance if I have a coon and/or if I have bait. If the cup is on, the mice haven't stolen the bait. The only problem is that the cup gets destroyed if I catch a coon.
