For whatever reason my yard is a possum magnet, I periodically clean them out but i get new ones constantly. Took 13 out of my backyard 2 years ago.

Last night I let the dogs out and there goes a new possum waddling off, but it was black, or at least VERY dark, saw it again at 3 this morning...So I guess possums come in black,...sometimes,... wondering how rare that is.....?

Never seen an all black one, a few dark ones but nothing I'd mistake for black.

We have black ones, pretty common maybe not all black but almost. In my part ole tale says if you see black possums the winter will be harsh.

On the fur market, black possum are less desirable than the grayish ones. Graded separately at FH. Craft/tourist market likes raw dark ones better.

I've caught 14 possums on my land this year already, never seen an all-black one , I have caught a bunch of all white ones

The ones here that have black are always young ones. They seem to change color as they get older. They make a beautiful scarfe, though!

Well one is stuck in a crab pot at the moment, lol
I'll see what I got in a few minutes....If it's the black one, I'll take some pics and try and figure out how to post it....

We have a lot of "black" possums too but they aren't pure black.

They're not coming over to say hello.
They are attracted because of the dog poop
and/or other food sources.
