None of the folks posting know what Jan. 1989 was like. You were here? Likely no one reading this, beside me, you, Pete, OH Snap, maybe a couple others can imagine 60 below!
Yes sir, living in North Pole at the time. That was a long two weeks and the ice fog was thick. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.trapperman.com/forumpics/cold.jpg)

I like to arrange flowers, bake, and occasionally try on my wife's dresses....but I don't use setters for 330's!
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Oh I can win this contest by a country mile I'm a homeschooling stay at home father. I cook, but I don't clean, I have kids do that. I do parent's laundry, kids do their own. In all seriousness, though, what we think of today as normal or ideal gender roles now have really only existed since the industrial revolution. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/11/full-105-273334-img_8017.jpeg)

I’m a librarian. It’s a predominantly female profession but that’s the problem there is no male perspective to guide people to more masculine pursuits like trapping. There is no outreach to young adult males. I do it because I love being surrounded by history and knowledge but dang these women can be catty.
To a person ignorant of nature, his country stroll is a walk through a gallery filled with wonderful works of art with their faces turned to the wall

I do most of the cooking in our home. Wife hates to cook. I really enjoy it. I like doing the laundry too. I fold shirts better than she does. I own a sewing machine and like to sew. When I was in junior high I sewed a paire of pants and a shirt from scratch. Used a pattern and material I bought from the sewing store, this was for a 4-H project for the county fair. I then had to model the clothing in front of a judges and crowd of parents. Me and a whole bunch of girls I was the only guy in the contestants. I won and moved on to the state fair level. Most of my male 4-h counterparts were showing cattle and sheep, not me I was on the runway with a whole bunch of girls and having fun while they all gave me their numbers and admired my sewing handiwork.
Now when the Mrs has a button come off or a tear in her favorite pants she hands it to me and I get out my trustee sewing machine or I hand sew the button back in place.
I also really enjoy clothes shopping with my wife. I love when she tries on clothes and I get to see her excited about a new outfit that she likes. She will often try something on then send me back out to the floor sometimes for a different size in same make/brand and I know right where she got it from. She says I’m better than most of the women who work at the clothing stores. I like working with the sales people too. I get them all into it by having them reserve a dressing room for my wife and holding some pieces for her while we shop the racks so she can try those on when she is ready. Seriously it’s fun to get sent back out for something same brand but different size and I know right which rack it came from. Had several sales women say oh I know where that came from and I’d pipe in with yeah me too it’s such and such brand in their such and such dress or blouse model and color over there. The sales ladies are always so used to just showing the guys where the official guy waiting chair is near the dressing rooms but I refuse to be treated like the dumb guy who doesn’t get clothing and has to sit in the corner. They all seem to get helpful and interested when I jump in and know their jobs better than some of them do.
Anyway, that’s my soft side I don’t often share much. Sorry, Savell. And I do use setters even on my 220s and, gulp, 160s too. And, in all the many, many, years I’ve been a member on here, Paul has never given me a time out. There I said it. Now stop judging me.
Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

My kids bought me a pair of crocs as a joke because I was always making fun of theirs. I used to tell them that they put the holes in them so that their dignity had a place to leak out. LOL
Turns out, they make excellent water shoes for when my granddaughter and I are wading the local rivers and fishing.
As a bonus, they float So when they get stuck in the mud and come off, when you finally get them loose, they pop up to the surface.
Eh...wot?

I had a neighbor who was a very skilled surgeon and enjoyed doing fine embroidery. He made and embroidered Christmas stockings for his family. Everyone said a surgeon like him had fine manual dexterity and an eye for detail.
Paul, it occurs to me that fine manual dexterity and an eye for detail probably served you well as a bomb guy in the military - AND kept you warm in style!

My wifes dresses don't fit me I had to buy my own. I do shave my legs with an electric razor though.
