I just got word that Kip Feroce, maker of Ferocious Turkey calls and Ferocious Turkey foot Back scratchers has passed away. If you have ever been to a Rendezvous, whether it's NTA, FTA, PTA , or his favorite, Little Valley, NY you've seen Kip, he'd be set up under his canopy, selling his wares. He'd also be giving things to kids. At the NTA in Mansfield, OH he gave kids owl hooters and told them whenever they heard one go off during the show they had to answer. Every so often he'd pick one up and let off a blast and you'd hear owl hoots all over the fairgrounds. Literally "what a hoot". I could go on and on with funny stories, but on a more serious side, Through his donations of calls and presentation boxes of calls he raised thousands of dollars for trapping organizations. My wife and I would spend a lot of time with Kip at Redezvous, we would feed him dinner one evening and he would bring us fresh produce,. I don't know where he got them but the Canteloupe he brought to Little Valley were the best I've ever had. I had to stop for a minute, there was a lot of dust in the air here, it made it hard to see. It's cleared out now, so I'll finish with this. Rest in peace Kip, may all the birds you call in be longbeards and none of the wood you make calls from split. You will be missed.

A true example of someone who didn't need the spotlight on him but was a huge asset to the trapping community. Always soft spoken but not afraid to defend what was right. His love for trapping and turkey hunting was unmatched. He was so creative with woodworking and unusual crafts behind his booth. It will leave a huge hole along the convention trail to not have Kip around. All that knew him are a bit sadder today RIP friend

Another friend gone.... Kip is known on the forum as coalbank.

He was a client of mine , and friend. He used various art designs on his beautiful wood turkey box calls , including a few of mine. He raised wild turkeys for re seeding in the area.

Kip was polite, kind, communicated in superior mature style , a master woodworker. He was a pleasure to work with.

He would always let me know when the fireflies began flashing , knowing how much I liked seeing them back east. Kip is missed.

We ran each others lines quite a few times.
I once caught a mink at Lucys', and he made a big deal of it.
It had to ride up front, him preening the fur, etc.
Next time I saw him he gave me a coffee cup
with pic of that mink and I in the crick.
That was before these things were known possible to me.

Once with him late season, he had a red then the next set over
had a muskrat lying beside the untouched set. Rat season was over
and we Wondered what the?
I said a Mr Green Jeans game or a "something" dropped it.
He later told me it had talon marks.

He once fished with me and two others on my birthday.
I don't think anyone caught but it sure was fun sharing a
fire and sipping beers all night long. I asked him,
"You do have a license, right?".
He gave me that squint eyed big grin of his.
All three of those guys are missed.

The first coyote for his huge money coyote dog....
I wasn't sure to call 911 or laugh.
That's enough my bad grammar.

He drove a Ford truck with 500,000 miles on it. I always wanted to start a GoFundMe to get him a new one. I always saved turkey feet / legs for him….he made back scratchers. Got a big bag of them now in the chest freezer. Be sad when I pitch them.

Ole Kip was a long time friend. I have several back scratchers and some turkey calls. He was truly one of a kind type of man in his own right. A good trapper, wood worker, and fabricator.

It is always a sad moment when you hear of such men passing. He surely will not be forgotten and hope his spirit lives on in all who knew him.
