Quince fruits sure smell good!

Yes, that is originally why many people had a quince tree in their orchard, commercial pectin didn't become available until the early 1900's is my understanding. So if you wanted your jams and jellies to set up you needed a good source of pectin. The best would have been quince.

Back in the day women used to place quince fruits in their linen closets to impart that fresh aromatic smell to everything stored in there.

I have a quince tree down below the house. I was disappointed we didn't get fruit this year because of a late frost. I grew half a dozen from cuttings a few years ago and gave them to friends. They sure fill the house with a wonderful smell. We love quince / apple pies.

United we stand.

That's interesting to me that you got cuttings to go. I may have to try that.
