Diane got some kind of Sarcoptes after laying on new hay in our back barn a few years ago. She started getting lots of itchy red bumps. I got a few bumps. We both took Ivomec orally and it was better the next day and gone in a couple of days.

Chiggers not mange.

Every kid needs a Dog and a Curmudgeon.

I thought they were chiggers at first too, but they weren't. They were a Sarcoptes mite related to scabies. Some animal likely laid on the hay before Diane did.

Caught some nasty looking critters over the years. I gave them peace. Put up fox and coyotes with it. After the host is dead. The mites leave or die. Never had an issue!

Several years ago a friend from Nevada came over and trapped a bunch of red fox and skunks, some of which had mange. He and his hound pup both got infected. He said it took a couple weeks to get rid of it and was very uncomfortable.

United we stand.
