The California Bighorn(subspecies of Rocky Mtn Bighorn, and not associated with the libtard state), that I killed, was definitely better.

Last few I've got, including the one in my freezer now, have been Dorper-Katahdin cross. My family and the folks I've shared with seem to think they're tasty.

The way it was explained to me, the difference in taste has to do with the lanolin they have in the system, with the hair sheep being a lot less gamey.

Our Oxfords are hard to keep on the shelf.

Other farms and the local USDA Slaughter Shack are always wanting more

Oxford lambs

we raise Kahtahdin hair sheep that are a smaller meat breed. They sell very well as 50-60lbs. feeder lambs. We eat the ewes(mutten) as they sell for $1.00 per lbs. and the lambs sell for $2.50-$3.25 live weight.

We got 3.75 lb live weight for ours from the Slaughter Shack..the owner says our lambs are top notch.

Dall or other thin horned sheep, like stone sheep.
Even old ones have zero gamey taste.

we've raised katahdins, very low maintenance . . usually had them butchered around the one year mark, no complaints
