I make a big effort to buy as little as possible from China, and already have the saws I need, but I'm curious if anyone here has tried one.

No, but I did buy a neo tech Chinese bar from Amazon.. 32” long.. it might have lasted 15 minutes… apparently made out of recycled kitchen forks

My dad bought my boys each one of the Chinese 4 wheelers when they were small. I had more $ in parts fixing them than he paid for them. even had an axel shear off just behind the spines that tire slid over. have seen enough tools that couldn't do the job without breaking in the first use. Like screw driver the driver turned in the handle after just a small amount of torque was applied, sockets that bust and wrenches that spring. Drill bits the neibor had would bend in his drill.

So I dont know about. their chain saws but wouldn't wast my cash on them. then again I only buy sthil or other pro series saws.

I guess if someone would be an occasional user and has time to wast on down time and fixing things and on a tight budget they may be ok. But I prefer my stuff to work, dont enjoy or have time for broken tools or down time.

Are you talking about the 'kits' that you put together yourself that are copies of old style Stihls or different offbrand Chinese? Regardless I've heard very mixed results and would probably steer clear. But I've had excellent luck with their replacement carbs for the smaller saws, and for older fourwheelers also.

I bought one of those small 6" bar one handers,,,, battery power... it works surprisingly well for smaller cuts and pruning, battery lasts quite awhile and will cut more than you think...I used it to cut some 6" seasoned cherry and it did the job.
No it's not a Stihl, or made for cutting firewood, but for light stuff it beats a handsaw....YMMV

I tried their piston and cyl kit.
Port timing and piston quench were way off.
The saw did run. After a week or so
I refurbished an old one and gave the chicom parts away.
The proprietary OEM parts are NA for that brand.
I like husky.

If your not handy at working on chainsaws you better steer clear unless your wanting to learn how to work on them.

You may get get years of use or just a few hours before something fails, just so your aware.

Farmertec seems to be the most advanced of the chinese brand saws.

Thanks for the responses. I've got two great condition Husqvarnas that fill my needs, but just curious I guess. I've bought carbs and other parts for 2 and 4 stroke stuff that were made in China without problems.

The ads I've seen are for complete saws, but I have enough stuff to do, that I don't need to spend time messing with a bad chainsaw....that I didn't need in the first place.

The great news is that the migratory pigeons showed up in our area today and we've got enough acorns to hold them for a while. I know where I'll be in the morning.... not fixing a cheap chainsaw.

Pete

Pete, are the migratory pigeons wood pigeons?

How many can you shoot?

They look like they would be very good to eat.

Yes, they are the same as the wood pigeons in the UK, and the same as the bandtail pigeons in BC, WA,OR CA. They are great to eat. I marinate them for about an hour after they rest in the fridge for a couple days and then grill over oak and eat them rare. Tender and I love gnawing on the legs so I pick them and cut out the backbone so they are flat for the grill.

Had a Chinese hand grinder once and it didn’t have enough power to file your fingernail

I have a cousin with a tree service , he has a bunch of them

he caught a deal on the echo top handle 27cc knock offs 90 bucks a pop he ordered 10
he siad they all started for him , he might go through a couple of any saw in a season
he also has some of the 372xp knockoffs

they cut , and last him a season or two

he looks at it to buy a good top handle he would have to spend 500 he can get 2 for 1K or 10 for 1K so basically if he has any issue he grabs another and gasses it up and starts cutting , getting around to fixing it or maybe not , he makes money cutting and they are cheap enough they are less than the cost of repair on a better saw.

they are not as good as the real thing I think they weigh more , but they offer him a cheap way to be cutting again fast rather than changing chains in the field he is more likely to change saws and file them when he is home after dark.

I just took the gamble on a 23 dollar amazon carb and maintenance kit for my 11 year old Jonsered cs2255 aka a red Husky 455 rancher

I am running again cut up a tree , run about 3 tanks of fuel so far through it apparently the factory carb did come down in price but a few years ago they were 120 they are down to about 80 now

but 23 has me running good it needed a little adjustment to set high and low correct but it did take the adjustment fine.
