Got my line punched in Saturday for the opener. Have a handful of water and land sets each. Yesterday I checked the line and ended up with quite the surprise - bobcat double! Unfortunately, they aren’t in season yet in the Lower Peninsula. I released both without any sign of injury to myself or the cats and I’m left with a pretty awesome memory.

Good job on the releases! Do you cover them up with a box or how do you manage that safely? I heard you have to be real careful with catch poles and cats..

There is a app called "image size" on the apple app store which is free. It takes any of your iphone pics and reduces the file size significantly without any noticeable quality. Its kind of crazy how large the file size on iphone pics have become. All of these phone makers think the average joe is looking to take professional photos.

Since I was unprepared, I notched a small leg hole on the bottom of a sheet of plywood. Cat on one side, foot in trap on my side. Went surprisingly smooth

The plywood with a notch in it works great if you are trapping out of a pickup, kinda hard to carry otherwise. Smasho, you are correct, if I am releasing cats with a catch pole I don't tighten the noose down, just snug enough it won't slip off and I can hold them in place while removing the trap (leather gloves can help the random paw swipe). I've used a forked stick for the same purpose when I didn't have a catch pole handy. The wildcatofIdaho release pole works the best if you have one, easy to use and you are out of reach of the cat if something slips.
