We here on Tman alway telling how different things/places have changed. Want to go back to how was 30-50-100 years ago.
Right now I'm sitting on 3rd floor of the clinic been here for some years now. Just had a cancer chopped off my lip waiting on lab results see if need to hack more. So why is this relevant to old history?
Back in the mid 1970s somewhere 3 floors below where I sit now. I caught my first nice red fox in dirt hole set for fox. Not exactly sure where below me that exact spot is. Didn't have GPS in them days. The trap was however on the edge of the alfalfa next to the corn stuble very near this location. I know that? based on the interstate hwy to the north and the tree line to the east. In fact I think the tree my brother inlaw shot a buck from with bow. Think its still back there yet not lost to development.
Im one of those people never traveled to far from or moved from my old home area. Know the history of the area at least in my life time. See the changes in the area like it or not. I trapped the farm that was in this location. Right up until it sold to the hospital system i think in early 1990s? I didn't trap here after that. But I was able to talk to grounds people. Caught pigeons in the old barn for dog training until it was torn down. Is a hotel pretty close now to where the barn was.
So anyways little walk down memory lane while waiting on lab results.

First of all, Good Luck with the cancer!
Second, you bring back a lot of memories. I will be driving through there in a couple hours. I think the Antler motel was about the only thing out there until you got to the old Nutbush. They started building the Valley View mall while I was at WWTI in 79-80.

JD Nichols..

Thank for the concern guys. Loosing pieces of my face is from hours enjoying the sun.

In 1979 I was just married living in small house. Wife and I rented on the bluff south of nutbush on 16. That house and the other two by it are gone now. Guy we rented from that owned those 3 homes sold to someone that built couple 4 story condo units there. 16 was only 2 lanes then and I used to set coon traps in pipe at end of my driveway. Coon run that tube go down to the river across the field on other side highway. Pipe is still there under the 4 lane but is big codo unit right above it. Other side the highway is large nursey now.
The one farm I help put hay up at that morphed into a salvage yard. Which I had the privilege of banging around in. That is now buried by Kwik Trips big distribution facility.
My parents home is gone now is part of yard for big contractor company. Even some of the farms I trapped farther from town. They have house on them or near them. Actually houses right on top places I caught coyotes or coon.
It just seems weird sometimes wonder what some think. If you said yeah I caught several coyotes in your kitchen.

I worked on that building when it was built. Everyone threw a dollar in to guess how many bricks were in it.
