OK cool, ya thinking those weavers will be good enough?

I mean they should be honestly bro unless your kinda hard on your gear most stuff made in the last few years ...even the cheap stuff imis fine for just walking to your stand and popping a deer at 100yd or less... One reason I'd probably change them would be if you wanted something higher or lower to fit you better .

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1362188575?pid=752178 - I like these if they fit your rifle.

Also: I Never needed the warranty on any of my Vortex scopes, ever.

my one return for warranty was a battery compartment issue on a red dot after several years

my son we will just say , he uses everything harder than intended

there is little he hasn't used to failure

Ever scenario is different. Alot has to do with how much you shoot, how big a gun its on and what are your expectations of the scope are. A $200 and down scope works for a lot of people's scenario. If Im going on a hunt of a lifetime spending a little extra on a higher quality scope doesn't seem to unreasonable compared to the other costs involved. Ive got scopes from a $100 up into the thousands, they all work for the situations I use them in. There is a difference between them and as rule you get what u pay for.

Well I guess dad figured it was a good investment for him cuz he just ordered the 4-12 Vanquish, he said it'll come in on the 19th... and opening day is the 22nd! I'll have to put in a lot of practice with it in a couple days lol.

And I guess I'll just use the old rings that came with the gun or maybe I can run to Fleet Farm and see if they have any of the ones you guys recommended

I absolutely agree when you are paying for a hunt of a lifetime , build a custom gun put excellent glass on it

what CoyoteCowboy is running is a 243 freezer filler , wouldn't be the level of half these guys truck guns.

WI deer hunting is a little different , reminds me of a time passed in most places where , blue jeans , work boots and a stained up orange hooded sweatshirt that looks like it might have just been dug out of the trunk of your beater with a heater from where you stored it last year still wearing a bit of the blood on the sleeve.
is still normal enough.
get off work on Friday from your factory or construction job at 2pm and drive to camp where Pap and Gramps have the cabin opened up and the wood stove going.
your rocking the same rifle you got at 12 a 243
and your supplies for the holiday weekend are tree turdy racks , tree pounds bacon , and a new orange hat from the fleet farm on your way to camp that you will wear for the next 364 days till you get another one. and a bottle of Korbel and some 50/50.

Gonna jump in here again and offer some insight/experience
I hear folks saying 3-9 is sufficient for WI woods on a freezer filled and agree it is probably sufficient, however if you are gonna take that same 243 and go pop some groundhogs you might want to go with the larger magnification of the 4 - 12. I started with a 3 - 9 and yea only went up to 4 -12 but when shooting groundhogs with the 12x all my shots are head shots can settle those crosshairs on an eye or ear verses anywhere on the head/body. And yes I am that critical of my shot placement and no I am not one to take those 500 - 600 yard shots if I can't get to within at least under 200 yards I need to improve my hunting skills

Hay CC don't know if you know about them but for short shooting 100yd and in deer boiler room stuff check out these lil LPVO ( low powder variable Optic ) most of them are 1-4 or like a 2-6 great for the deer woods and when you want some a bit more compact. The ones I have are monstrum's affordable and they hold up pretty good tattling around one the floor of the truck ... Reticles are just kind a big is my only complaint

That makes sense! I'm excited to see how it works when it comes in the mail

Personally I find the Crossfire glass to be absolutely horrible to my eyes. I would highly recommend upgrading to the Diamondback line for about 20 bucks more. At least to my eyes the glass is far superior. There are a lot better scopes out there, but for the price point I think it is hard to beat the Vortex Diamondbacks, I have several 1.75-5 Diamondbacks on various 22s, etc. And Vortex has great warranty and customer service. If you can scrape up a little more money I would spring for a lower end Leupold a Vari-X I or II, I think they are a pretty good step up, and they also have excellent customer service and warranty.

you are a company in some other country that buys a Vortex scope and makes your product look the same but with the cheapest possible components

optics planet and midway are safe but Amazon is not always a real vortex , they have very convincing copies.

Can't they get busted for advertising it as a Vortex?

The issue is alot of these Chinese companies just kinda don't care and it usually ends up not being worth the money to go after them . If it was US based company counter fitting it's one thing but china ? Yeahhh they will legit just shut down one factory/ product line , change the name and logo and go back to selling
