Just one beaver, but they earned it. This particular beaver had an education before we got to her. The previous trapper took out the male and kits, but didn't get her pinched. We made some subtle sets with footholds and food lure, and a couple bodygrips blended in where she was going to cut poplars. She didn't touch anything for a few days, and it started freezing up.We ended up with one channel that had a seep going into it that kept it from freezing, and that's where they caught her. I was happy to see the boys, especially George, put some thought into catching a difficult one.

Educated beavers are fun. None will be safe near those trappers with them learning how to deal with them at such a young age. Good job dad.

They are having a great time. We all want to see them smile when they are fleshing them critters.

Thank you all. Backroadsarcher, I moved a couple years ago and don't currently have a place to put up fur. I've got lumber rounded up now, so the plan is to get a shed built in the spring. For now they are learning to skin, George is getting pretty good at it. Next fall they'll get to learn the satisfaction of putting up their own fur.
