Then you must not pay attention. My 7.3s take 15 quarts of oil and large expensive filter. That's a lot more tahn any gas motor I have ever had. Maybe get 20 mpg or so max less pulling and more expensive fuel..

Yes some things cost the same like tires and some parts other parts cost more being heavier to support heavier motor and torque.

New or smaller diesel may be different i only have experience with Fords 7.3s both idi and turbo.
