Got this "kitten" on 2 different cameras and it appears to be darker than what they normally show up as on these IR game cams.
No daylight pictures yet

1st pic seems to be mom and littermate, 2nd it is by itself (or others are off camera)

No plans to even try and catch it if it is 1/2 grown

Dale Cole, a bobcat hunter in Oklahoma had a picture in a hound magazine years ago of a black phase bobcat he caught in Oklahoma, I believe he said he had heard of another one being seen also. It looked like one of the black jaguars they have in the zoos, you could still see the bobcat markings on it faintly, but it was pretty much black and charcoal grey.

We would see one every couple years in red river county, mostly in the sulphur river bottom. I think it may be a genetic thing.

Had this cat last year about as dark as I've seen

I saw one pelt around here many years ago. Was a charcoal colored with the spots black. Belly was gray. Very cool cat. Haven’t seen one since.
Fur buyers may get anything through their doors would interesting to hear their takes.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
