Trying to plan for hunting this weekend so we can grab n go. Do you all fill up on food before you go hunting or do you pack a lunch n snacks?
I can’t eat first thing in the morning but I get hungry quickly.

Boiled eggs are not a good idea lol

Pack snacks here. Granola bars. Tuna pouches. Even sandwiches sometimes. Stuff I know won't disagree with my stomach.

Toast fried in bacon grease on opening morning is a sure fire way to miss the first light hunting, LOL

Jerkey, seeds and nuts, almonds ect. before low carb trail mix and other junk food snacks. But that was generally when it would be a all day hunt. I can go a long time without eating. I may get a little hungry but its nothing I can't ignore. Oftentimes it may be 3 in the afternoon before I realize I have not eaten anything.

Have gone over 36 hr a few time in the last 'several' months.

A lot depends on the temperature also. Really cold and I want more food. Calories help keep warm.

Usually I don't eat before going out in the morning but I bring some trail mix to snack on if things are slow and I get hungry

snack snickers, apple, baby carrots and a brat - no bun. Thermos of hot water - no coffee. Try to keep it light because we pig out at camp for breakfast and dinner

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

we go out and hunt , then come back in to warm up and have breakfast about 9-10 depending on what we are seeing for deer and how cold it is

first legal shooting starts at 6:30 give or take about 3 minutes

First thing a hearty breakfast, always carried a 1/2 pound Hershey's dark chocolate candy bar and water to get through the week of hunting. It's getting harder to find the 1/2 pound bars anymore.

There's a reason they put Halloween before trapping and hunting seasons. [Linked Image]

The wife keeps me in a steady supply of homemade biscuits. I cure my own bacon, so we always have some on hand. I'll make up some bacon biscuits (or sometime homemade English muffins) and put them in the freezer. I'll pop a frozen bacon biscuit in the microwave while I fry an egg to top the biscuit and I'm out the door. A hearty breakfast in less than 5 min. Sticks with me longer than a granola bar.

Peanut butter toast crackers, jerky and quick bowl of cereal before heading out or fig newtons. Bean and Weenies in the little cans for later in the day not bad cold.

On the occasion I want to hunt all day I will pack stuff that I can nibble on all day.

Beef jerky, PB&J sandwiches, trail mix, etc and a bottle of water or powerade.

Nothing that makes a lot of noise getting into (chip bags, etc) as I bow hunt 99% of the time

Only hunt an hour and a half tops. Then the 5 minute walk back home or the two minute ride on the wheeler. Usually come home and eat the heart.
