Maybe you bounce around and you are some or them or “several” of them. You go out of one and move back into another one from time to time. Maybe you’re multiple at the same time.

Yes^^^^

I taught this phase concept in many hunter ed classes over my 27 year career.

After dealing with thousands of hunters during my GW career, I realized that most folks are a combination of multiple phases.

But, a few are hung up in the "shooting" or "limiting out" phase. None of the other phases are remotely interesting to them.

Exactly.

I’m sure GA would gladly have you as a volunteer instructor.

They would but after 27 years I've had enough. My wife is a certified HE instructor also, but we have turned the reins over to the younger crew.

I like a full freezer. Don't care if I shoot them. Have not shot one in years. Have more fun with the kids doing the shooting. Now that they are hunting on their own and can do it all without me I find siting in the woods I watch them walk buy. I enjoy being out but have no desire to do the shooting. If I need some groceries I will shot them tell then probably won't.

No idea waht stage that is.

I would like to kill an elk, moose, and mule deer but doe or cows would be fine. Im more interested in cooking and eating them and seeing new country than antlers.

Well, I thank both of you for your dedication to teaching safe and ethical hunters.

I think it would be great to be a volunteer hunter education instructor one day.

The stages resonate to me. I'm still pretty new to all of it, but what I can tell you is that my experience out in the woods dramatically changes after I get my first. First deer, first buck, first bear, first fisher trapped, whatever. I'm able to calm down and enjoy it a lot more after I break the ice

People are to worried about presenting themselves to others as this or that. Im a hunter and a trapper, beyond that I feel zero need to put myself into any other special category.
