Opening morning here in SW MO. 61 with 10-20 mph wind. Gonna get close to 80 this afternoon.
Not the best deer hunting conditions.

I normally hunt on my neighbors 150 acres. Last year his boys whom are in their 40's took up deer hunting.
I have to wait until they're done hunting before I can hunt said 150 acres now.
Sitting in the carport watching a fence row that the swamp donkeys travel semi regular and hoping that a nice doe will make the walk of death this morning. Lol

I've only heard 1 shot this morning.
Very warm and the wind is picking up from the south.

Son and I saw a few. Didn't freeze. After wife and I played 9 holes in shorts and t-shirts which is probably what I will be wearing out this PM. Not much shooting other than a neighboring farm that historically blasts away. Need to find out what caliber they shoot and set up a roadside vending machine.

Buddy picked this one up mid morning looks like he’s been around a while.

Shot in back of us 400 yards and I thought our hunt was messed up but still had plenty of action. Only shot we heard this PM.

Seen several. Nothing real big. One of the crew got a nice old 7 point. Big deer. Lots of meat. That put me on butcher duty this afternoon due to the warm weather.
I will get back after them in the morning. Supposed to be around 45 degrees at daylight and fog is already setting in along the creek. Should make for good hunting.

Too warm today and gonna run my beagle dogs tomorrow so Monday I'll go out.

Too warm for me. Got other things need tending to while I got good weather. Only heard 5 shooters from morning to noon. Normally have a dozen in the first 30 minutes on opening day. None this evening.

It’ll be cooler tomorrow. Should help.

I headed back to SD on Saturday opening day I went through the middle of the state I did not see very many hunters in the better areas along the way. I was surprised it was like that a few years ago also I expected to see more orange on the roads. Might be the warmer weather they shut down big time when it warmed up again.

Seen bigger bucks on our cams this year and on the roads pre dawn the place I hunt was always basket rack acres in the past.

Good deer

Before I shot my buck, he was chasing a doe just out of site. I could hear crashing and a lot of grunting. When they got close, the doe and buck were both gasping for air. As it turns out, when I shot him, two more bucks came in still in hot pursuit, and one was much bigger than the one I shot. He was a wide and tall ten point, standing 8 steps from my ladder, watching my buck and then the doe.
I thought to myself, how did this just happen. I waited for a bit just watching natures great show, then the doe pealed out, with two bucks in hot pursuit. Kind of though the big boy should now be called Bufford T Justice.

Quiet this Sunday morning. Heard one shooter, about a mile from me, all morning. Quietest opening weekend I’ve heard in a lot of years.

One area a couple of miles away had a lot of shooting this AM. Everywhere else nothing. Saw a few does but not set up in a great spot. Hoping to see an old buck with interesting rack.

I haven't heard many shots fired all weekend.
Neighbors have killed 2 small bucks and 1 doe this weekend.
