CT has a ML season which includes everything from flintlock to inline, the last 3 weeks of Dec. We can also use a ML during our centerfire firearms season as a lesser weapon.
It's been a few years since I've taken it out, but use a .50 Missouri Ranger, patched round ball and 90gr ffg.

High Walls, Rolling Blocks, and Sharps legal then. Those thing were state of the art back then and haven't lost much since.

Typically black powder and 50 cal.
But sounds like the boys cva single shot 350 legend would be legal. If so I would pick them out of what we have for that season. But I subspect the scope and suppressors would not be legal.

Primitive calibers:

The rifles that headed west in the early 1800s averaged about .53 caliber.

With one exception we dont have any commercial. 53's

So by default the .54 round ball is as close as you can come to the real life tradional calibers.

If you wanted to know that.

Did the H&R Handi-Rifle ever come in 35 Whelen? It would be legal by my reading.

Not what most would consider primitive but more by gone. I have my grand fathers model 94 Winchester from 1920 in 32-40.
My one black powder rifle is Low end composite stock 54 cal Hawkens. Far less primitive than my grandfather's Winchester. Other than it being 54 cal and cap lock. I have shot deer with the Winchester only paper with black powder.
