Funny how one memory leads to another

I was 12 years old then, a nerd on drawing hunting blinds for my dad

Dad just got his browning a 5 mag and wanted to use it

One Saturday morning he left early of course with all of us sound in bed

Late morning he returned with a rabbit and a couple ducks

It was nasty weather wise, snowing and blowing 20 plus,

Problem was he wacked a couple of geese but couldn't find them in the high marsh grass

We had a toy poodle momma had got in Spain, she was about 4 then

My crazy dad didn't like the idea of leaving 2 geese in the marsh,

Much to mommas not liking it he grabbed the dog and myself and put us in his car

Being 12 and ignorant of a poodles breeding, I griped and complained

I would have thought it till many years later , this breed of dog

was actually a European water dog bred for hunting.

Took GiGi half a hour to find those geese and bring them to land

Dad got his hand ate a bit from getting the geese out of her mouth

I remember he took it in stride, blood from his hands dripped but he wasn't upset

He just pushed a couch potato back to her breeding

Still remember tho, Momma was not impressed at all, the house was quiet that afternoon

Cool story. I enjoyed watching the episode of Duck Dynasty when uncle Si took the poodle dove hunting.
