Are game cameras legal in all states?

I use them in Oregon, but you can’t use them legally to check traps here.

Few things are legal in ALL states. Check your state if the camera image counts as a daily trap check.

Most cameras in MI. are used for hunting deer. They can be used in Mi.

Sounds like a question for your DNR or game commission then. The question isn’t can they be used, it’s whether it counts as a trap check. Here in WI they are changing the regulation language to allow for cell cams to take the place of daily trap checks if you choose to. They’re not mandatory or anything but it gives you the option,

You didn't say if it was for trap checks, deer hunting, or crime control.

Currently allowed here in WA for daily trap checks, not positive about hunting but believe OK, as gave up hunting 3 years ago, to many pumpkins with guns in the field.

Electronic trap monitoring is allowed in NC if the device meets all of the stipulated requirements that are fairly extensive. Some of the cellular trail cams meet the requirements.

Utah: Game cameras are not allowed on public land from July 31 to December 31. Landowners can use them for livestock monitoring and security. Landowners can also use them for hunting purposes on their property, except cellular cameras.

Where legal, these are fantastic tools for NWCO work. I had a very tricky beaver job...caught the 3 juveniles pretty quickly but the older educated rascals were much more of a challenge (no surprise). With the pics I got, I could watch exactly where the beaver was traveling. Without the camera I would not have known there were any beavers left because they completely stopped fixing the dam. There were two still there, but they were avoiding the "danger zone" right close to the dam they had made around the overflow pipe. The camera was terrific for monitoring their activity.

not legal here in ontario to check your traps with same goes for drones the question came up at a local trappers council meeting and the co was there and he cleared the question

I don't believe it is legal as a trap check here in Pennsylvania either, but it sure does help to see exactly what the little rascals are doing. We are still required to physically check the traps each day. The camera just reveals where and when they are traveling. Sometimes I am missing them for some unexplained reason--the camera solves the mystery.
