Forgive my ignorance, I am new trapper.

The stop that will work for me is May 9th Big Rapids MI.

Hopefully we still don't have freezing temps by then. smile

What's the best way to keep my frozen green pelts frozen and get them to you at the stop?

if you have a deep freeze lay them flatand stack on top of each other i use cardboard between critters but have known guys to use newspaper as well. im not even really sure why but helps if they arent completely thawed out so buyer can inspect each one.

im fortunate that groeny is only 20 miles from my house. once freezer is full we go down and drop them off. i only have one fur freezer.

I am doing that MM.

I guess my question was more "day of" when it's a 40-minute drive for me to Big Rapids and then wait my turn to see them in the fur truck with the temps being who knows what.

if they are flat frozen you can pull them out the freezer load in the truck drive there and as long as they can see the back you should be just fine. i used to roll mine up nose on top to hook a bent wire on and let them thaw a day was more a pain in the butt than i needed it to be. then my mentor said jsut lay flat then it doesnt matter they can grade them still frozen. i did it rolled thinking i was saving space. turns out i cant fill the freezer anyways so i just lay flat.

Go to the Groenewold website. Instructions on how to handle pelts for the various stops is on there.

Some stops only beaver & otter will be bought skint & frozen. Other stops other species will be bought raw & frozen.
