Got back to SD Saturday early afternoon then the honey do train hit me I haven’t even unpacked yet. LOL Crisis #1 deadbolt stuck cam must be worn out no biggie. Crisis #2 wife’s shower is leaking in the wall between the shower and the laundry room did I mention I hate plumbing and drywall work.
Looks like it’s been leaking for sometime but luckily most of the water drained through the plumbing line opening in the floor the unlucky part was the delay in detection started a black mold farm in the drywall pockets between the wall. Looks like the laundry room and her bathroom walls that adjoins the same studs will be getting new drywall. That should remove the majority of the mold that drywall weighs a lot just soaked with water I’m shocked it held up as good as it did it looked ok but chunks just fell off if you pulled on it. I’ll pull the studs out that are soaked and replace them too.
The culprit was a gray water line with a bad connection I figure the washing machine shook it for years and it finally gave up so I replaced both the hot/cold connections. Those gray water lines are know to leak big class action years back over them. Used shark bite fittings since Pex and the gray line is the same OD diameter the ID is different.
Got traps to set so I’ll run the fan for a few days then treat the studs I can’t replace with mold killa before I drywall it back together 3 sheets should do it if I cut it right, oh the fun. LOL. They ran 220 for the dryer and 110 for the washer in the same studs that can’t be code but I could be wrong Cliff will let me know.
