Best do it before the ground gets too hard.

I don't know about where he is, but here in the deep south in MS, we see single digits most years.

Does the ground even get hard down there from freezing, or is it just dry? When he says cold snap, I wonder what temperature he is talking about. Lol

Is it in the low teens? Or is it in the 50’s. Lol

Better bundle up… looks brutal.

Go cowboys. I guess

Pretty sure they can’t mess it up at this point.

We usually get one or two nights of single digits, but the next day will be up in the 40s generally. 2 years ago though, we got 3-4" of snow...it all started to melt, then dropped down below 20 for a week straight... no snow plows or salt trucks down here. Not that it mattered, as we could not get out of our driveway in a 4x4 for a week straight... narrow, 3/4 mile long driveway with 2 steep hills.... solid sheet of ice. At the end of the week the TP situation was dire, so I risked life and limb to maneuver the side by side down our treacherous driveway, to find out the state highways were no better, lol. But I made it to town to get my TP, LOL.

Well, that truly was an emergency situation.

Yeah, that ice sucks.

I’m sure those Minnesota and Wisconsin folks will be by soon to say only they have ice and snow .

We will get 6”-10” every so often of snow. But, after a few days it’s back to normal and melted. Last year we had a month or so in the low twenties high teens after about 12” of snow. Had lots of ice.

Glad you were able to make it for the emergency TP provisions. Sucks when y’all get weather that isn’t expected and not something that is common. But, you come from a place that had cold and snowy winters right? So, you were ready.

Well, other than a sufficient supply of TP and whisky, lol.

Well, believe it or not (and I still cannot) we are on city water. MOST of the time, if we leave the water at a fast drip overnight, it will not freeze... do that in your kitchen, bathroom sink, tub, and any other faucets you have...right on the border between a drip and a drizzle. That almost always works... the time or two it did not, I believe the cold was accompanied by stout wind.

That said, our laundry room is separate from the house, in an unheated building... I will run a Mr. Buddy heater in there on the coldest nights... sometimes it works. Sometimes I spend the first warm day repairing waterlines, lol. I don't think there has ever been a winter I've not had to fix waterlines, BUT we have water to 4 unheated buildings, and sometimes even draining them, isn't enough... you don't find out the ones you thought were sufficiently drained, weren't, until the next spring when you turn the water back on, lol. In the laundry room, since I need it continuously, we just keep the water on, and fix the lines if we fail to prevent them from freezing... went to all pex in there, so it generally a pretty quick fix.
