I never heard of a single person talking about deer hunting in Connecticut. I hope you shoot a nice buck, if there are any in that State.

My wife grew up in the Mystic side of town of Groton
They had deer in their yard all he time

Nuisance critters of course, too many houses around to control population properly

Nailed it. We have plenty of deer here. Too many small properties. Even if you get permission , which is difficult, gun hunting is mostly out because of close proximity to other houses. Bow hunting can be problematic too , as you can shoot a deer and it runs onto another property and although legally accessable ( mostly) it is a real hassle to retrieve it. Finding larger tracts of land over 5 acres is difficult due to land/property tax costs.

Quite frankly , we cull deer with our cars. A few years back , Groton ( Bluff Point ) had a forced controlled deer hunt . The deer numbers in Bluff Point had become over the carrying capacity of the land. Deer starved to death in winter for years. The state finally stepped in after years of the residents fighting against hunting.

The NY guys hit it on the head as around where I live in urban and trap in semi-urban places cars are the biggest deer killers.
No real management going on... deer everywhere...too many houses/people. We need a suppressed law to be able to LEGALLY hunt and manage
critters.
Good luck on your hunt Bruce!

I worked in Milford, Connecticut for 6 months back in 1992. There was really good chain pickerel and bass fishing there in a park, with two statues of many great grandfathers of mine, who founded Milford. I caught eels, crabs and lobster in Milford too.
