Does anyone have anything in depth they can explain on what I am doing wrong for drying my Fur? This is a Muskrat Fur with the air conditioning on, kept in the dark and a fan blowing on it at 65F. Is this what it's supposed to look like before I tan it? I'm very new to trapping and I've had to learn everything online because I have no mentor. I want to make sure I get it right before I send it off to be tanned.

So that's why two of them look brown and one is Red? Just the part of the season I caught them in?

I know when I catch spring rats the leather dries just about pure white.
And yes, the early rats will be a dark color and that red colored rat was probably caught later and is starting to prime up.

And don't over scrape you rats get the red meat off and get the large deposits of fat off and don't worry about the rest of the fat. The leather will absorb any fat left on the hide. And that's a good thing since the leather stays pliable.

Those rats should tan just fine.
