Will 1/16" wire rope work to make retrieval cables to pull up chained finned super stake earth anchors.

NOT to anchor the trap, just to pull up the earth anchor.

Has breaking strength of 368 lb. I doubt I could exert that much force by hand.

This, I'd worry about any connections letting loose before the wire rope breaks.

So thicker cable and bigger ferrules will make the connections stronger?

Get some 1" pipe a piece about 6' long will work. Lay the pipe down and make 2 wraps of the chain around the pipe. Hold the trap in place and pull up on the pipe.

If you pop the ferrules loose the chain is still attached, if you already have the cable and ferrules use two at each end if you are worried. Granted I dont use the finned super stakes but if you have to dig one out is it that big of a deal.

I'm cheap and don't like to spend money if I don't need to
