The only problem with head shots is an inch one way or another and you have a wounded deer. I don't advocate head shots.
But it worked for you.

Congrats, should be a nice eating deer.

There was this bar that was so rough they checked you for a gun and if you didn't have one, they gave you one.

At 30 yards using a rest, I feel confident I can take a lethal head head shot with my sighted in 308 10 times out of 10 times. When in the military, I qualified expert with the m16, m14, m2 carbine and 38 cal combat masterpiece.

I neck shoot all of my deer at 70 yards,

Don't jinx me, killed over 50 from my porch and never had to look for one

My 338 federal is nothing but a 308 necked up

It's a howitzer on deer

Nice deer, Mr. Dobbins!

My preferred shots on deer are head or high neck. It’s a meat saving shot, our deer are a bit small to begin with. Only had one wounding incident in my several years of hunting.

You guys are lucky that you are allowed more than one deer per year!

HEAD SHOTS here also. BRASS : breathe....relax..aim..slack..squeeze
Sniper in Nam said many of his shots were head shots as many times all that was visible. Definately lethal !!!!
