What area. I fish in FL when I visit family. I fish close and far. If there is a sand bar, bring a bass fishing rod and toss it out in the drop off. Use shrimp, clam, or frozen minnows. You can catch some decent fish like that. Can use a surf rod and walk out on the bar, cast out into the deep water and catch bonnet head and other sharks, along with whiting, red, snook and others. Once it is high tide I use the long rod, and catch whatever is swimming around. I usually get a ton of pompano and whiting. If you start bringing in only the heads of the fish, set up for small sharks.
