Raven (the black lab) put up seven this afternoon. I flubbed easy shots on the first two, but finally managed to knock down a limit.

Ranger is coming up on five months old. He still doesn’t have much of a clue but he’s beginning to figure out the game.

Great pic! The pup is looking like, "Dad, do I really have to wear this silly vest??"

Proudly banned from the NTA.

Bother me tomorrow. Today I'll buy no sorrows.

I went back out this morning and got another limit. I just wish we could shoot more than two at a time. I saw a bunch of fresh pheasant kills. I believe the coyotes get more than the hunters do.

Raven with the retrieve, Ranger with the assist. LOL

Another retrieve and another assist. Raven had to chase this one a bit, brought it back alive.

Nice photos, great looking dogs!

There was this bar that was so rough they checked you for a gun and if you didn't have one, they gave you one.

Great pics, nice looking dogs. Have a lot of irons in the fire myself, between bird hunting, trapping and deer hunting. Keep up with the updates!

Awesome Lugnut. I love watching a young dog learn from an older one. Great pics!

Son and I are headed back up to SD between Christmas and New Years with the labs.

I saw your post about your very successful waterfowl hunt and your red lab Trapset. It must be great to have family to host you near some great duck and goose hunting.

Do you ever go after pheasants out that way?

We have gone pheasant hunting up there the week between Christmas and New Years since my son was a kid, 17 years or so. The girls have been up a few times but both have wee little ones now so a bit tougher for them. Son, me and the pups are heading back up the day after Christmas.

This was a couple years ago. My son on left, buddy from Canada, daughter and her husband. Kit in front of course. LOL

The pheasant hunting looks like a blast. We don't have them up here. Congratulations on some successful hunting.

Went back out this afternoon and got another limit. It was a quick hunt, two birds up, two shots, two birds down. The dogs didn’t even get a chance to work up a lather.

I told my daughter about it and she asked why I didn’t pass on the first couple of birds so the dogs could get a better workout. I told her that’s how you end up humping up and down the hills and valleys until dark and not seeing another bird.

When the dogs flush a big, beautiful cockbird right in front of me, there’s no way I can’t shoot at it. That’s why I unload my gun after I limit and let the dogs hunt our way back to the truck. LOL
