.. using conibears. Wires on bottom or top? Concern is wires on top might cause the animal to not want to further advance.

I happen to have actually caught 4 fisher, in Alaska. There is a small population in northern southeast portion of the panhandle, and while I didn't make sets specifically for fisher, I got them in boxes set for marten. All my conibears for marten, and most for mink, were fitted with plywood pans. Never had problems with refusals, prevented bird issues, and no fur damage. And it leaves a wide-open view for the animal.

Just doing what I want now.

I use 160's in boxes and I have my triggers going upward. I slide my triggers to one side. One wire I keep straight and the other bent at close to a 90 degree bend in it so there is a slightly bigger opening to go through.

I have always set mine on top. I do have some refusals, but not sure it’s the triggers……sometimes they just don’t want to go in the box
