Just picked up a half dozen off a member and they are some stout traps. Those of you that run them, do you run 2 coil or 4 coiled? Also, thinking about running regular jaw vs the offsets, thoughts?

I am curious to hear opinions from the guys that use these also. I just picked up a half dozen this year to try out. 4 coiled and offset. Haven't connected with a coyote yet with them.

They are stout, strong springs and heavy construction. They seem to bed pretty nice for me too.

I did have a raccoon pullout on one. I figure it was a front foot catch. Pretty sure coon, as that is what the catch circle smelled like.

K Snow, how are you liking the 4 coil? The ones I bought off a forum member are 2 coil and I honestly don’t think I need the 4 but curious to hear others opinions. They were offset so I went with them but am thinking regular jaw for a mixed line as well!

I wanted the 4 coil, as I'd like them to be my crappy weather traps. We've had a lot of freeze thaw winters here lately, so I wanted the extra springs to help out.

My two coil 550s work fine when the weather is decent. And they've caught coyote in bad weather too.

I started with 60 2 coiled JRs and they held everything that stepped in them. I 4 coiled them all to deal with frost - freeze thaw and am very happy with them. I've held enough skunks, coon, and possum that I see no reason to dislike the offsets.

I have no complaints
I use 4 coiled due to snow/ice/mud
The coating is very durable, I don’t have time to wax traps every year
Also very good on feet but I run double laminated and have very minimal non targets
They are rugged too, don’t be afraid to throw them around, don’t have to worry about bending anything

We run some of the regular K-9 extremes, 4 coiled and really like them. Big, stout traps the juniors look nice too.

Picked up a couple dozen of the JR Kendall Pro Series….haven’t gotten the chance the set them yet, but they are beasts with the upgraded #3 wires and the barrel swivels are way better than crunch proofs.

I have 2dz junior wire levers and in my opinion they are a great trap. However I trap on a couple of high end deer farms so I don’t use them or the full size extremes as they lock-up so tight I can’t take the chance of holding a 300” breeder buck. So I use mb550’s.

I have 5 or 6 dozen on the wire lever jr’s. All are 4-coiled and offset. They are fast and look up tight. I have yet to lose either coyote or cat from one. They would not be my first choice for coon.
