I was told we're going somewhere but I wasn't paying attention. Probably my sister's place. I'll find out Thursday, I reckon.

I'm fortunate. I get to work on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas this year. We will do our family thing whenever I have a day off, and I get to avoid some of the extended family that I'd rather avoid.

Since my wife has none of our holiday traditions I'm the one that keeps it going. She's happy to come along for the ride though! I do a traditional thanksgiving meal with all the fixin's. I started making stuff as of today including my great grandmother's triple risen buns (goody buns my brother John named them once) that takes me 6 hours to make. Tomorrow cranberry sauce and pies.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Much closer to friends than family. No major problems; that's just the way it is, and I don't think any of us feel like faking it

Savell is Moth Man. lol. Makes sense now.

We all got family drama. When you get older and people start dying the holidays aren't the utopic event you were brainwashed in believing when you were young.

Turns out there was beef you didn't know anything about amongst the dinner table. Then the cool ones kick the bucket which only creates more drama.

Happy Holidays everyone.

I made the decision years ago that we stay home for Holidays. I was tired of dragging us here and there out of obligation. Most family is welcomed to come over.

We enjoy Holidays much more now.

I also decided that we would mix up the food. Every year the feast is different. This year it's BBQ.

Also much more enjoyable.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's sad to read most of the posts in this thread. The fading away or loss of family ties is everywhere around us. Our American society is not family-oriented anymore. And we are inadvertently teaching/showing our children to be the same way.....that families are not important...not even during the holidays.

Hurts my heart.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

No fake stuff here, both our parents are gone but not forgotten. Our 3 daughters, husbands and 8 grandkids are coming over this afternoon for a pre-thanksgiving meal. Non traditional but plenty to eat followed by playing cards and watching the kids play. Then tomorrow we're back at it again with all the traditional stuff. Everyone brings bingo gifts for the kids and we all play until it's nap time (for me anyway) very fun times. 16 of us all together.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Got picture to post from my wife's phone so it's definitely something going on with my new one as to why it won't post them.

I have been on vacation for the last 2 weeks scheduled to go back to work Friday. I signed up for Holliday trade out so will be working Thanksgiving. Will allow someone else to get time off with their family since I have been off a little over 2 weeks. And if in going to trade hours of my life at work for money I want it to be for the largest amount per hour.

Most of the family is dead now only got to my in-laws and stop by my mom's these days. I will spend time with mom after work and see the in-laws often through the year. If I get that new building done before they all due I will probably start hosting Either Thanksgiving or x mass. Will be a nice change not working Hollidays

The oldest boy married a social just warrior he met in collage so she doesn’t feel “safe” around the youngest and myself because we are not pro immigrant and woke about everything. LOL Nobody’s ever said a bad word to her but that’s what she came up with on her own. I’m good with it either way I can live with her decision she has issues.

Agreed. I love my family, and enjoy spending time with them. Kids are grown up, and everybody is scattered around the country, so we don't see each nearly as much as we used to. The holidays fix that

Both Thanksgiving and Christmas come in a real busy time during trapping season. I figured these holiday's were created and supported by the HSUS. I tend to ignore these two anti-trapping holidays as best I can.

Going to have a houseful here. Wife said 21. Kids grandkids, great granddaughter, and spouses. She went to the bank. I am glad. Wife and daughter are carrying on like the president will be here.

And here I thought I was unique, apparently I am in good company

My wife will be slaving this evening for the feast tomorrow at her kids

I will be up around 4 am starting a pot of gumbo, it does take all day

She will leave late morning and not return till dark thirty

My gumbo will be in the low mode and my rifle on the porch

If it's brown it's down and good vittles for supper

Just wait it won't last long if he grows a pair. If he doesn't she won't respect a likely will be having fun on the side so won't last . Those type can't be happy going against biology. Typically feminists are the most unhappy people . I hope he doesn't get cleaned out to bad. OR she comes around.
