2025 is winding down. My son got a dandy elk (in my opinion) and we both passed multiple small muley and whitetail bucks. I saw no shooter elk, but spent 18 days out in some awfully beautiful country and a week with my son.. Couldn't ask for a better trip. Coyote calling was insanely tough. Peak deer and elk season and I made about 30 stands over a few days from near Devils tower up and across MT - spent two solid days calling near Ekalaka.. never called a coyote, but saw a couple on the road lol.. Visited an old friend out in the western side of the state and we have a Mtn lion adventure brewing, We will see if it materializes, bout have to be next year as I'm tapped out on travel funds and my wife's patience this year. I've got Arkansas in the books yet in December and then we are heading to the Kids in TX right after Christmas.. Planning on taking the boat along and fishing inshore for a few days after we get the holidays done with them. This retirement gig ain't half bad!!

there is a dandy buck in this pic, hard to see, but of course on the unit we could not hunt.. sigh..

spotted a huge mule deer buck on this ridge, of course right on the unit line and he's on the wrong side. We kept a close eye out for him but never saw him again..

Very good, I'd say enjoy retirement.
But sounds like you are doing it right.

Looks like a large bodied bull in a difficult place to get out!
How are the steaks?

We ended up with 200 pounds of processed meat so figure he was 450 ish live weight. Thank God we had an outfitter. 2.6 miles from the truck. My son carried the front shoulders out to a closed road and said he thought he might die before he got it done. Incredibly tough, steep country.

Was an awesome trip and thanks all for the kind words.
