My 3 year old wants fur coats, blankets and hats. As much as ide love to go catch all the animals, have them tanned and turned into garments I just can't stomach the bill for a rough and tumble 3 year old. I see old fur coats for sale cheaper than I could even have the hides tanned, I've saw bobcat coats cheaper than 1 decent hide is worth. Which brings me to the question

Is there any reason not to buy old fur garments and reuse the fur for my kids garments.

I bought a used fur coat for the real cold days setting in a tree stand. It ain't real stylish these days but its the warmest thing I've ever worn. The boys laughed at me when I bought it but before season was over with they were fighting over who got to wear it.

No reason not to if the fur is in good shape and not dried out. Any bad portions can be cut out and replaced.

On a side note: ensure your young'n knows not to wash fur in the washer and dry it in the dryer. Don't ask, the results didn't come out as planned. sick

I have bought several fur coats at sales, for my sister in law. She is a doll maker and reuses the furs for doll cloths.

I bought a mink teddy bear for my daughter from a person who made items from older fur garments
