How much do you have to worry about the tracks you leave when making a set. Do you brush them out. Something I have always thought about. You can't undesturb the snow when done.

Smell is the only way a coyote can tell your track from an animals IMO. After a few days smells dissipates some and they get braver. Some just don't care.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

You're giving the coyotes too much credit in the smarts department. But , as Danny stated, it's the scent .

Walk in to check traps and the next trip in theres yote tracks on your trail. If I blind set a trail I like to come in from the sides and disturb as little as possible if I have to make a mess then I make a big something “happened mess”.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I am that way snaring, come in from the side then stay away. Always check from a distance whether snaring or trapping. I guess I have seen how coyote act when they come across where you walk when there is no snow. I guess maybe I am over thinking it??
